Part I: 6 Days Mount Kilimanjaro Hike - Rongai Route

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro Via Rongai Route - This is the third popular route on Kilimanjaro and involves much shorter approach to Kibo than the Marangu Route.
Accommodation: Tents
Standard duration: 6 days, the walking is quite strenuous
Note: There are 2 nights in Arusha; 1 before and 1 after the climb

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival – Transfer to the hotel

Upon arrival at JRO airport, you will be met by our driver who drives to the hotel for overnight stay.
Overnight: Kibo Palace Hotel

Day 2: Rongai Gate to the First Cave

Drive from Arusha to Marangu Gate for the necessary registration formalities and then transferred by Land Rover to Rongai, which should take about 1.5 hours. The climb starts at the village of Nale Moru (1,950 m.) through fields of maize and potatoes before entering pine forest. The climb is consistently and gently through attractive forest that shelters a variety of wildlife. Reaching first Campsite, at the edge of the moorland zone (2,600 m.), giving you extensive views over the Kenyan plains. (7km, 3-4 hrs Trekking)

Day 3: First Cave to the Kikelewa Caves

After breakfast start with steady walk ascent up to the 'Second Cave' (3,450 m.). Start seeing Kibo Peak and the Eastern ice fields on the crater rim. Leave the main trail and strike out across the moorland on a smaller path towards the jagged peaks of Mawenzi. The campsite is in a sheltered valley near Kikelewa Caves (3.600 m.) (15km, 5-7 hrs of trekking) 

Day 4: Mawenzi Tarn Camp

Trailing start with short but steep climb up grassy slopes, which are rewarded with superb circular views and a tangible sense of wilderness, before reaching Mawenzi Tarn (4,330 m.), for camping. Spend the rest of the day resting or exploring the surrounding area as an aid to acclimatization (10km, 5-7 hrs. of trekking)

Day 5: Kibo Campsite/ School Campsite

Early morning proceeds with trekking crossing the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo to reach School Campsite at the foot of the Kibo crater wall. (8km, 6-7 hrs of trekking). Spend remainder of the day resting and preparation for the final ascent

Day 6: Trek to Uhuru Peak 5895m

The last day will be a really early beginning for the summit, normally 01:00 am, trailing through loose volcanic scree to reach the crater rim at Gillman's Point, take a rest for short while before continuing to the Uhuru Peak (which might take 3 hours) After relaxing, watching the sun rise and taking memorable pictures, start descending to the Horombo Hut and spend overnight there.  

Day 7: Horombo to the Hotel

After breakfast descend to Marangu Gate, meet the driver and return to your hotel in Arusha
End of tour.

Part II: 7 Days Northern Tanzania Safari + 6 Nights of Zanzibar

About Lake Manyara

The area of the park covers approximately 50km and sits at the base of the 600m high Rift Valley escarpment and the Manyara Lake. It is famous for its vast herds of elephants, flocking flamingos which inhabit the land and its highly unusual tree-climbing lions. The National Park is also home to baboons, giraffes, hippos, wildebeest, and zebras, providing you with an exceptional big four safari. A highlight of any visit to Manyara is without question its diverse population of birds.

Day 8: Arusha – Transfer to Lake Manyara

You will be picked from your Arusha hotel and be driven to Lake Manyara which is 2 hours away from Arusha. Lunch will be served in Arusha before proceeding to Lake Manyara. Upon arrival you will have an introductory game drive as you head to the lodge.
Overnight: Lake Manyara Serena lodge
Meals: Lunch & Dinner

Day 9: Lake Manyara – Serengeti

Have breakfast then depart for Serengeti arriving early before lunch. Have an introductory game drive en route to the lodge for lunch. After lunch relax before an afternoon game drive at 4o'clock.
Overnight: Serengeti Serena

Day 10: Serengeti – Full day

Have breakfast then depart for a full-day game drive carrying parked lunch with you. Enjoy searching for wildlife in this vast savannah land. Picnic lunch will be served at lunch time.
Alternatively, have morning and afternoon game drives with other time spent at the lodge
Overnight: Serengeti Serena

Ngorongoro Crater 
The main attraction of Ngorongoro National Park is the 2 million years old crater. It is about 610 metres in depth and its floor covers about 260 square kilometres of area. The estimated height of the original volcano ranges between 4,500 to 5,800 metres. Ngorongoro has two more volcanic craters: Olmoti crater, known for its stunning waterfalls and the Empakai crater, which holds a deep lake and lush, green walls.

Day 11: Serengeti – Ngorongoro

Depart for Ngorongoro after breakfast arriving before lunch time. Have a game drive en route to your lodge for lunch. After lunch relax before an afternoon game drive at the lodge.

Day 12: Ngorongoro – Full day

After an early breakfast, check out of the lodge with packed picnic lunch and depart for a tour of the crater floor, which is home to numerous plains game and the big five. Spend the day within the crater and have lunch at one of the famous picnic spots in the park. In the evening you will return to the camp for dinner and overnight stay.

About Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park is located at Manyara the Northern Region of Tanzania and about 2850 square miles. Its landscape mainly consists of Acacia woodland,ridges and the Tarangire river valley. There are several main tourist attractions and activities as explained below. Tarangire National Park has a wide variety of wildlife, including, thousands of elephants, zebras and wild beasts.The concentration of animals peaks during the dry season (July to October) as animals migrate in seek of water from the Tarangire river and pastures. Lions,leopards,wild dogs and cheetahs lurk in the Savannah woodlands in hunt for prey. This gives a spectacular view of nature ecosystem balance. The park is a home to several species of birds and termite mounds that gives live to the landscape.

Day 13: Ngorongoro – Transfer to Tarangire

Drive to Tarangire to arrive mid-morning. Have a game drive till lunch time when you check in at the lodge for lunch. Have lunch then relax before another game drive at 3p.m till 6p.m

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 14: Serengeti – Arusha/JRO (by road) - Transfer to Zanzibar (By flight)

Depart Serengeti early in the morning at 7a.m. to arrive in Arusha at lunch time. Have lunch then you will be dropped at the JRO airport for your flight to Zanzibar (Departs at 6.30p.m). Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the hotel for your stay.
Overnight: Dream of Zanzibar/Hideaway of Nungwi
Meal Plan: All Inclusive

Day 15 - 20: Zanzibar – Own activities

Spend these days on leisure activities, swimming diving and day trips.
Overnight: Dream of Zanzibar/Hideaway of Nungwi
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 21: Zanzibar – Transfer to DAR/JRO/Nairobi (By flight)

You will have a transfer to the airport for a flight to DAR/JRO/Nairobi. Upon arrival, connect with you outbound flight.
